Mathematics and Computer Science in Münster
Mathematics and computer science are dynamic key technologies of growing importance and appeal. Their classical fields of application include physics and engineering, but innovation in biology, medicine, and the social sciences is also increasingly driven by mathematical and algorithmic methods. The foundations for tomorrow’s applications are laid by today’s mathematical research. For many years, the mathematical institutes at the University of Münster have ranked among the most renowned in Germany.
Münster looks back on a long tradition of outstanding mathematical research, reflected in numerous prestigious distinctions, including several Leibniz Prizes and other major research awards. At the University of Münster there is also a vibrant exchange between first-rate fundamental mathematical research and cutting-edge applications across a wide range of disciplines.
Mathematik Münster beim NRW-Tag
Vom 28. bis 30. August 2026 verwandelt sich die Innenstadt von Münster in ein riesiges Festivalgelände mit verschiedenen Bühnen und Themenmeilen. Auf der "Wissenschaftsmeile" an der Universitätsstraße sind Groß und Klein beim "Mathematik Münster"-Zelt zu Knobelspielen und Gesprächen mit Wissenschaftler:innen und Studierenden vom Fachbereich Mathematik und Informatik eingeladen. weiter
Robin J. Sroka ins Emmy Noether-Programm aufgenommen
Die Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) fördert Dr. Robin J. Sroka, Forscher an unserem Fachbereich, im Rahmen des Emmy Noether-Programms mit rund 1,3 Millionen Euro. Damit kann er in den kommenden sechs Jahren eine eigene Forschungsgruppe zum Thema "Kohomologie und K-Theorie: eine Untersuchung neuer Verbindungen" aufbauen. weiter
